Khady Koita renowned author of Blood Stains:
A Child of Africa Reclaims her Human Rights will highlight turning points in
three decades of effort by African women in European Diaspora to campaign
against female genital mutilation and present promising projects in effect
today.
A bestseller when it first appeared in France as Mutilee in 2005 (and presently available in eighteen languages), this memoir by Europe’s leading activist against female genital mutilation breaks new ground. An immigrant from Senegal to Paris, Khady is founding president of the European Network FGM and blows the whistle on excision, forced and early marriage, and unequal gender relations. Ultimately, Khady’s courageous battle against FGM and for human rights leads her to the U.N. to urge international support.
