When: Saturday, November 10th, 2012 - Transportation will be provided (4 seats left)
Where: Miami University, Oxford, OH
Description:
Last year, the Miami University (Oxford) African Student Union hosted the first annual Pan-African Conference. The conference was a result of heightening interest and discourse around the theme of Pan-Africanism. At the conference, there were presentations and a panel discussion, all aimed at tackling the task of "Making Poverty History in Africa" by addressing dependency, sustainability, and ignorance. The representatives from UCASA clearly stole the spotlight at the conference, being the most quoted, the most referenced, and inviting the most thoughtful questions. Overall, every single person who attended the conference was able to attest to the tremendous quality of learning and to the importance and relevancy of the issues raised. Also, the conference marked a truly historic moment, being the first ever event of its nature to take place on the Miami University campus.
This year, the theme is "Sustainability" and UCASA intends to repeat last year's success. The format is slightly different, as each school is asked to send forth three representatives who will be presented with a challenging case study relating to an issue that is central to development in Africa and tasked with formulating and presenting the best solutions/suggestions. Please make plans to attend the conference and support the members who will be representing UCASA.
