Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to a range of social and environmental issues around the world and to motivate them to consider ways that they might be able to affect positive change as individuals. The course will provide objective overviews of a number of issues while also introducing students to a range of government, non-government and private organizations and individuals that are attempting to address these issues. Using contemporary perspectives of leadership and social influence, students will explore how and why such efforts may affect change at the individual, organizational, and societal levels. Accordingly, this course will provide students the unique opportunity to gain insight to both pressing world issues and those working on the ground to improve them, with the goal of sparking their interest and capability - as leaders or potential leaders - to become active participants in social and global change.
