Be a RAPP Star! Additional Filming Monday, September 13th
As mentioned earlier today, our esteemed recruitment leader and budding director Jojo is recruiting RAPPers (and RAPP applicants) to be in a commercial for RAPP.
This commercial is primarily being made for Akwaaba 2010 - the Black student welcome. It'll also be on our website, this blog, and our YouTube channel.
Another round of filming will take place on Monday, September 13th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.
It takes five to ten minutes to do each person's recording. Stop by the RAPP Office any time between 1:00PM and 3:00PM to do your take!
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Rebecca at 513.556.6119 or lehmanrl@uc.edu and she'll pass along to them along to Jojo!

Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today!
It's coming up! The annual Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today is being held Friday, October 29, 2010!
Each year, several University organizations come together to create this exciting event that promotes Bearcat spirit and philanthropy. It is primarily organized by Fraternity and Sorority Life, but is successful with the help of groups such as Friday Night Live, Student Alumni Council, Student Government, the UC Alumni Association, and BANG.
The walk is FREE to participate in - though participants are encouraged to try to raise $25 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Seeking Students for the Administrative Review Committee
University Judicial Affairs is seeking student applicants - both undergraduate and graduate - for the Administrative Review Committee (ARC).
The ARC is a group of faculty, staff, and students who are selected by Judicial Affairs to participate in the review process for individuals who have allegedly violated the Student Code of Conduct. When an allegation against a student is made, the student is invited to meet with a Procedural Hearing Administrator to resolve the allegation. If found responsible, the student has the option of accepting responsibility for the action and the sanction determined by the Administrator, or the student may elect to have his or her case heard by the ARC.
The role of the ARC is to listen actively and objectively to all the information presented by both the accused student and any witness or other statements. The ARC is responsible for determining whether the accused student is responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct, if so, administering the appropriate sanction. The main goals of the ARC are to uphold the University's rules and protect the University community while also promoting the educational growth and development of each student.
Student members of the ARC play a very important role in shaping the University's response to student behavior, as there are twice as many students on the ARC as faculty or staff. This creates a great opportunity for students, as peers, to understand and address and alleged violation from a similar perspective as the accused student , which ultimately makes the decisions of the ARC stronger and more influential.
After training for the committee, the actual time commitment per quarter is considered minimal.

We all love commercials, right? Well, maybe not so much, but that's because you're not starring in them. Here's your chance to gain UC fame while promoting RAPP: We need folks to star in our wonderful 45 second commercial.
You may speak a portion of the script or simply have your face featured. Either way you'll be a star.
Though this is very short notice, our first filming day will be Wednesday anytime between 1:00-3:00PM at the RAPP office (669 Steger). If you're not able to come by on Wednesday but still wish to participate, contact us and I will provide other available days.

Art Academy Convocation
Most of the first year class of students from the Art Academy participated in their Convocation, which involved welcomes and information from the Academy president and dean, information about involvement opportunities, and a speaker from ArtWorks.
Following those speakers, I spent just over an hour with the group exploring the concepts of inclusion and exclusion. In that, we explore how we define those concepts, how we ourselves have experienced inclusion and exclusion, and ways in which we can choose to make an inclusive environment for others. The given topic was quite broad, but the students did an excellent job contextualizing it and identifying ways in which they participated in it.
This workshop is hopefully the first of an ongoing relationship with the Art Academy. We hope to connect again in the future on specific topics of social identity as well as specific aspects of awareness, leadership, and crosscultural communication.
