More than 100 students are registered in the current program at UC Clermont College and many of those students attended the celebration. “This program provides me and my fellow students with a pathway to transformation. One that instills us with confidence, shapes us into leaders, and teaches us the necessary skills for our future endeavors—and a big, bright future,” said Yolanda Spradling Hughes, a student in the first class.

“This marks a milestone for UC Clermont College – the creation of our first home-grown bachelor’s degree that came about through a joint effort working hand-in-hand with our colleagues from UC Blue Ash. We are very proud of this new initiative and the opportunities it offers our students,” said UC Clermont College Dean Greg Sojka.

Dean Cady Short-Thompson echoed the sentiments, adding that faculty and staff that came before laid the ground work for this program and that they should be commended. “Thank you for filling the needs of the students and the regions’ employers,” said Dean Short-Thompson.

UC Provost Santa Ono was on hand to celebrate with the regional colleges. “This is the first joint-regional college degree offered at UC and we are very proud of it. We were able to fill a growing need in the region and I thank the deans, faculty and administrators for the energy, determination and innovation that they put into this project,” said Provost Ono.

During the celebration, Dean Sojka announced that students of the new program have donated more than $600 to initiate the Bachelor’s of Applied Administration Legacy Scholarship as a way to give back to UC Clermont and pay it forward to students who will follow in their footsteps. Their motto was “there will never be another first time” to celebrate the first class of the cohort and leave a legacy to students who are continuing their academic journey in this program.
