Annie Fitzgerald Award

The UC Center for Community Engagement is seeking students to apply for the Annie Fitzgerald Award for Leadership and Service for next year. The award is given out yearly to three UC undergraduate students who possess a deep passion for community engagement. Students must be currently participating in community service, service learning or other areas of engagement in their community.

The Award Amounts are:
$2,000 - One first place winner
$1,000 - Two second place winners

Student Requirements/Eligibility:

  • Enrolled at the University of Cincinnati (full-time)
  • Undergraduates only 
  • All majors are encouraged to apply
  • Scholarship will be awarded within Academic Year 2011 and can be applied to Fall 2010, Winter 2010, or Spring 2010 quarter payments.
Application Process:
Please submit the following to the Center for Community Engagement:

  • Essay: Write an essay no more than 1000 words about your community involvement this year.  Consider the following questions:
    • Why is it important to volunteer or give back to your community?
    • What made you interested in community service and/or service learning?
    • What does your community mean to you?
    • Have you showed leadership or initiative in a service project or organization?
  • Two letters of recommendation or reference  
  • Resume  
Applications will be accepted December 13, 2010 - January 21, 2011

 Email or drop off your application at the Center for Community Engagement office - 2639 Clifton Avenue, Startford Heights, Building # 19 - by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011. 


Applicants will be alerted of their scholarship application status by March 25, 2011.
