Join Your UC Family for Light the Night

From the UC Alumni Association:

Join your UC Family for Light the Night
Dear UC Alum,

Our lifelong Bearcats across the country often tell us that they would love opportunities to get together while doing something that serves their community. Last year we came up with a wonderful way to blend UC networking with charitable activity, and we’re expanding that opportunity this year.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is having a Light The Night Walk in your area, and has partnered with the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association to enable teams of Bearcats to become “Champions for Cures.” Few of us have been spared the agony of having a family member or friend battle cancer. In response, Light The Night is an annual fundraising walk held in many locations across the country. It supports LLS’s mission — to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the lives of patients and their families.

Helping LLS in the fight against cancer also strengthens UC, because UC Health and its partners are on the forefront of cancer research. In fact, this year LLS will fund four research grants at UC, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Hoxworth Blood Center, totaling about $2 million over the life of the grants.

We learned as UC students that helping others is part of what Bearcats do. It’s even better when we can do that together as alumni. The upcoming Light the Night Walk is a great way to do both — an emotionally rewarding experience for everyone who joins the cause, and a tangible way to help others. Click here to learn more about the Walk and your opportunity to participate with fellow alumni in your area or donate to your city’s team.

Sincerely,
